The precision and softness of handmade products
The design is based on the palm scrubbing brushes from Naito Shoten.
Tawashi brushes are made from palm trees, a member of the palm family, and are characterized by their durability and soft, gentle feel.
By incorporating palm scrubbing brushes into textiles, the piece has a gentle, rounded shape and texture that can be felt by the hands of artisans.
Kikyouri Naito Shoten
Founded in 1818, Kikyouri Naito Shoten is a shop located by Sanjo Ohashi Bridge. The shop front, without a sign, is lined with palm scrubbers and brooms, attracting passersby. These simple and beautiful tools, which are an integral part of everyday life, continue to be loved by many people for over 200 years.
Produced by Ihara Dyeing
Ihara Dyeing Co., Ltd. / Founded in 1962
It is hand-dyed in 25m lengths by Ihara Dyeing Co., Ltd. In an age where dyeing is mostly done by machine or inkjet, this hand-dyed tenugui has a rich, heavy feel that is truly precious.
