We accept design orders from a shop in Kyoto.

Whole Love Kyoto will help any Kyoto-based business, regardless of industry.

We respect the wisdom, materials, techniques, ingenuity, and ways of thinking of Kyoto that have been passed down from person to person throughout its long history, and we want to share these with our customers. Rather than consuming "Kyoto," we envision protecting and passing it on to ourselves and the next generation.

(Please also see "What is Whole Love Kyoto?" to learn about our philosophy and aspirations.)

Specifically, starting with graphics, we will be working on new product development, planning and running events and workshops, and public relations. Utilizing our past research and collaborative work in Kyoto, we would like to listen carefully to what you have to say, think together, and propose a wide range of ideas.

First, we will ask you to tell us about your problems, your wishes, your budget, etc., and then we will make a proposal after consulting with you.

Please feel free to contact us .

Reuse design of scrap western foil

▶ Client: Horikin Leaf Powder Co., Ltd. (Established in 1711, Miyuki-cho Oike)
A long-established Kyoto gold leaf company. With the slogan "We can stick anything except air," we sell gold leaf and pursue new possibilities for gold leaf through challenging construction methods.

▶︎Schedule: May 2021 (6 months)

▶︎Request details: We began the design project after receiving a request from Horikin regarding whether it was possible to reuse the scraps of Western foil that were generated during the manufacturing process.

▶Work flow:
After a site tour, an orientation from the president, and several interviews, the idea was presented and feedback was received.
They proposed prototypes using actual items, and were tasked with turning the ideas selected by Horigane into products. Not only were they products, but they also created activities using the foil.

INODA GRAPHICS

▶︎Client: Inoda Coffee Co., Ltd., founded in 1940, Sanjo Sakaimachi. A major store that continues to lead Kyoto's coffee culture. The founder, Shichiro Inoda, is an artist who leaves behind many unique legacies.

▶︎Schedule: June 2020~ (still ongoing)

▶︎Request: Renewal design of goods sold at Inoda Coffee stores.

▶Work flow:
Not only did they research competitors, but they also thoroughly researched the efforts of long-established European cafes, which are said to be the birthplace of cafe culture, as well as the history and internal affairs of Inoda Coffee, before presenting their ideas and receiving feedback. They also listened to the opinions of the staff who work on-site every day and took into consideration the information compiled by the in-house team, before deciding on the items to actually sell.
The project was named INODA GRAPHICS because it boldly uses the many graphic elements left behind by Shichiro Inoda, and is still ongoing.

Design of gifts for Kyoto City's hometown tax return program

▶︎Client: Kyoto City

▶︎Request: Design of return gifts for Kyoto City's hometown tax donations.

▶Work flow:
The charm of Kyoto is the charm of the city itself. We wondered if it would be possible to go around the city like a stamp rally, and Koyama Kundo suggested the idea of "allowing customers to try the secret menu items of restaurants (that are not available to regular customers)."
The stencils for "Kata Yuzen," one of the techniques of Kyo Yuzen, were acquired from a dyeing factory that had gone out of business, and used to create bowls with Kyo Yuzen patterns.
If you visit a restaurant in Kyoto with your donburi bowl, you will be given a special offer of a secret menu item that you normally can't eat.
It is a canvas bowl bag made by Ichizawa Shinzaburo.
We transformed the intangible activity into a reward.

▶︎Duration: April 2018~ (still ongoing)

▶︎Research content:
Following an offer for joint research from a renowned European art university, research into "thread," the origin of jewelry, began.
Through two-way exchanges, such as European students staying in Kyoto to conduct joint fieldwork and us traveling to Germany to participate in symposiums, jewelry and other items are being created using materials and techniques from Kyoto's traditional crafts.
The research output is exhibited and made public at the GRASSI MUSEUM (Leipzig Museum of Applied Arts).
