"Kyo Kumihimo" Braided Cords Made from Silk Threads — Shōen Kumihimo —

An online workshop to experience kumihimo (braiding), with Mr. Hatta Shun from Shōen Kumihimo, a long-established company founded in 1948 that continues to create beautiful kumihimo in Uji, Kyoto.
In this kit, you will use traditional braiding techniques and real silk threads to create a strap by hand. You can choose your favorite thread color from three options.

There are hundreds of types of Kyokumihimo braiding techniques. On the day of the workshop, we will teach you three of these techniques, and you will experience the process of multiple threads intertwining to form a single kumihimo.

The workshop will be broadcast live on Zoom, including a studio tour and demonstrations. The material kit will be delivered in advance, so you can enjoy authentic kumihimo making at home with your family and friends.
