“HANAO”, an essential item for Japanese people's fashion

“HANAO SHOES” is a new standard that puts the “HANAO” into the modern sneaker. Hanao has been used to color the feet of Japanese people for hundreds of years on zori and geta . In the spring of 2024, a new version of HANAO SHOES was born, with which the customers can change the “HANAO” themselves.

HANAO SHOES＿Classic

This model closely resembles the look of "tabi and zori" and does not allow for the "hanao" to be removed.
For a more casual style, "Ver.2" with shoelaces is recommended.
For those who want to pair them with kimono or other traditional Japanese attire and enjoy a look closer to "tabi and zori", the slip-on "Ver.3" is a popular choice.

As this is a made-to-order product, delivery will take **1 to 2 months** after payment.

Standard

Whole Love Kyoto's HANAO SHOES were created in 2017, inspired by the "Miyako Odori" stage performance by geisha and maiko. The HANAO SHOES _ Standard series, released as the first edition, has been popular since its debut, with a design that allows for interchangeable hanao. This series has gained popularity across all ages and nationalities.

Wear them on a sunny day

Since the hanao contains cotton and a pattern inside, it may lose its shape if it gets wet. To ensure the longevity of your shoes, please avoid wearing them on rainy days.
Spraying with a waterproof spray will help make them more resistant to dirt.

You are also welcome to bring your own fabric to be made into a custom hanao.
