You can now customize your own pair of HANAO SHOES to suit your own style just by having one pair. The sneakers are made by MOON STAR (Kurume) and the “HANAO" are all handcrafted by Japanese craftsmen.

Marusenko Co., Ltd. is the leading kimono dyeing company in Kyoto, with over a century of experience dyeing kimonos using the kata-yuzen technique. Kata-yuzen is a unique method where patterns are carved out of Japanese paper coated with persimmon tannin and dyed using the stencil.

Marusome Kata Yuzen is the specialist in large, glittering patterns for Furisode and Tomesode. The impression of the HANAO changes depending on the way the fabric is cut.

Wear them on a sunny day

Because the HANAO is filled with cotton and patterned paper, it will lose its shape when wet. We recommend removing the HANAO when it rains or when washing the shoes in order to keep wearing them for a long time.
