HANAO SHOES＿KURUMEGASURI
Shimogawa Orimono / Established in 1948
This series of HANAO is made from kurume kasuri, a cotton fabric from the Chikugo region of Fukuoka Prefecture. The technique of dyeing the threads and then weaving them is called kasuri, and kurume kasuri is considered one of the three major kasuri in Japan. The discovery by a farmer's daughter led to the production of patterned kurume kasuri. The pattern created by weaving enhances the soft texture.
