07 アイスランドの火山から

07 From an Icelandic volcano

Just the sound of the word "Reykjavik" tells you it's a world apart.
It's the capital of Iceland, a place I'd love to visit someday.
A long time ago, an acquaintance who had traveled all over the world returned home, and when I asked him which place he liked best, the city he named was "Reykjavik."

I've looked into going a few times when I've been in Europe, but the airfare and accommodation are incredibly expensive. The cost of living is apparently high too.
I suppose that makes sense for a place that's a world apart, but I gave up.
I hope I'll get to go by some chance someday.
Life, after all, is like going from "beat" to "beat," and perhaps there isn't much we decide for ourselves.

This rock was given to me by a friend who visited recently as a souvenir. It's a volcanic rock, apparently.
Setting aside whether it's okay to bring things like this back, it's a wonderful souvenir.
I also received some black salt. I suppose the salt contains volcanic particles.
It doesn't look particularly appetizing, but that might be because I'm usually only used to seeing white, artificially white salt.
