Whole Love Kyoto's craftsmanship all begins with Kyoto artisans.
In collaboration with KYOTO T5, a research institution at Kyoto University of the Arts, we visit the actual sites, engage in direct dialogue with artisans, conduct research, and explore how to deliver that value. We are investigating the sustainability of handmade goods in an era where mass production is no longer the sole option.

HANAO SHOES

"HANAO SHOES" were born from the geta worn by maiko.
The hanao (thongs) are made from fabrics woven and dyed in Kyoto and throughout Japan. The base sneakers, made by "MOONSTAR," a long-established shoe manufacturer in Kurume, Fukuoka, are comfortable and durable. The hanao are detachable, allowing you to customize them to match your mood or outfit of the day.

TOCHU

Focusing on the idea that "the process of craftsmanship is interesting," we created scarves and stoles that are intentionally stopped "mid-process" during production. It is not the artisan but the user who completes "TOCHU." Only when you unfurl it will you discover your unique pattern.

This familiar shape, a wooden spoon that comes with store-bought ice cream, was crafted by a traditional artisan in Kyoto. Experience the artisan's skill and the unique materials not just with your hands, but with your tongue as well.

Vinyl wagasa

This "umbrella you won't want to throw away" fuses plastic umbrellas with the techniques of traditional Kyoto wagasa. Because it's plastic, you can see the artisan's process, which would normally be hidden. Furthermore, the maiko's attire, reflected through the umbrella, stands out even more beautifully against the Kyoto cityscape.

This original tenugui (Japanese hand towel) incorporates the essence of renowned Kyoto establishments and stores, featuring motifs such as kitchen knives, wire mesh, bread, and scrub brushes. Each piece is carefully hand-dyed by artisans. It's also recommended as a souvenir from Kyoto.
