06 Ramune Bottle
Share
This ramune bottle is impossible to find anywhere in Japan anymore.
Take a close look at the top part.
It's not plastic; it's integrated with the body of the bottle.
When my British friend visited Kyoto, we went to an okonomiyaki restaurant called "Yumeya" in Kawabata Nijo. I ordered a beer and a "ramune" to show him how to open the ramune bottle. After tasting it, my friend asked what it was called. "Ramune," I replied. My friend then suggested, "Perhaps this is derived from lemonade." Lemonade? Where? I thought, but if you pronounce "lemonade" correctly, it does indeed sound like "ramune." It certainly does. And the taste isn't completely dissimilar either. We felt as if we had made a groundbreaking discovery. So that's it, lemonade came to Japan and became ramune, definitely.
My friend and I asked the restaurant, and with that memory, we took two bottles home. This was back when this ramune was still being made.
